You hardly see any connection with African Americans and Africans with music etc….yet you see a connection with Caribbean blacks and Africans,how come?Why are African American culture so different?

Caribbean and african blacks have a stronger connection and knowledge of the ancestral roots
than american blacks
because of slavery and repressed education
remember it was once illegal for black american slaves to read
gaining equal human rights took priority over passing down history
black americans were disconnected from their african roots many generations ago
so they created their own separate identity

I accept all African-Americans! My country(Niger) welcomes all African-Americans.So if you want to come Dejele,you are welcome to visit.

But I guess the most that Afrcan-Americans can try to do is maybe have African penpals.etc.

Why is that that African American seem to have some of the strangest names? I am not saying all African Americans do because I have met some that don’t and I don’t I am half African American but I have always noticed that. No to offend anyone but some of there names sound like it could be another language of its own, or taken from two words and made up into one. I am just curious? I am curious to wonder what their parents were thinking? Or what were they drinking? I see it usually is a trend with the younger generation.

Key word: "African" those names derived from slaves that came to america from africa and have been passed on through generations until this day, like you said not all african americans have unfamiliar names it is purely their choice.

I have a cultural fair in school where my orchestra plays Kum Ba Yah and La Bamba, and I have some extra work to do, so how does African music influence Hispanic music?

There is a strong connection; African slaves were brought into areas like South America, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the African music was preserved by the victims of slavery, and came to be mixed with the local European art music. This happened in the New Orleans area, and blues (and jazz) was born, which is a solely American art form.

I feel a great deal of compassion, regret and admiration for these black people; so many died under the horrific conditions, but those who survived remembered and preserved their musical culture.
