I have a friend who is 76 and competes in the iron-man every year and finishes, I’d better tell he is on borrowed time.

it’s an average. actually, presidents that don’t get assassinated have a significantly higher (10-20% historically) life expectancy than the average population.

What the factbook says is that a baby born today has a life expectancy of 78.14 years, but there’s a chance that baby dies before it reaches 72 years of age. Should that baby live that long, its expectancy would be more then 6.14 years. Plus it’s an average. If you ever get outside, you’ll find people in their 80′s and 90′s. Trust me on this one.

Not really, considering that is a national average. If you want to look at McCain actuarial, you have to look at his personal medical history, family longevity, etc.
From this, McCain should live to his late 80s.
NOTE: Biden is about 6 years younger than McCain and has had two brain aneurysms. McCain’s skin cancer was over 5 years ago which is classified as "cured". Would you ask the same question about him?

Palin is what scares me most about McCain. I wish him nothing but good health, but stress can bring on numerous health issues and the stress in the US right now is astronomical. If McCain were a younger man, I would not be as concerned as I am. Sarah Palin Commander in Chief: no thank you!

The president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints just died in May at the age of 98. Up until his death, he was still doing amazing things. He became president of the church at the age of 83, and stayed the president for 15 years. He was completely coherent, and completely able to lead the church.
