For the first time in history, South Africa hosted a Confederation Cup, which I consider as a mini-world cup. Lot of doubts engulf South Africa abouth its capability to hosting such a big tournament. How do you think they fare in terms of overall performance including transportation, hospitality, stadiums, Bafana Bafana, and many other things? Did you enjoy it?
I understand the doubts but i think south africa did their best to be a great host. Okay maybe the pitch wasnt top notch but it was ok, the teams still played well. Come 2010, they’ll really deliver, no doubt.
I enjoyed it because the crowd acted like ours back home especially with the vuvuzelas (the horns, as most people who arent used to them call them).
I enjoyed the games though they were full of surprises, who would have thought SA (south africa) would be in the top 4??? I always thought the final match would be spain vs brazil. I didnt expect USA to go as far as it did.
For the 1st time i was glued to the screen during a football game. I’m a typical girl who has no time for football but I loved the Confederation cup!!!!
I had 2 big problems with the Confed Cup the first was the horns, I don’t care about there significance or history they are f*cking annoying, 2nd the pitches were not up to standard, last nites pitch was particularly poor, did you see the amount of sand thrown up, this is just not world cup standard

I think there were lots of problems getting people too and from the stadia, also facilities around the stadia were poor (according to the commentators)
the horns were VERY annoying, although I did also hear that they were playing the horn noises through the tannoy system, so that would have to go for the full thing next year.
The pitches would have to be reviewed as to their overall quality….. very sandy / scuffed up too easily last night watching the final.
Final point, the numbers of people watching the games seemed low – not sure if it was price of tickets or lack of interest, but having full stadia would have shown the world that there is a desire for football / soccer there…………!
Overall, I think it was a success, but with some (major ??) issues to be resolved for the real event next year.
